About the Law Office of Barbara Bechberger
The principles of this practice are governed by the things of God. The Bible says, "Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance."
This practice emphasizes negotiation during difficult circumstances and encourages parties especially in family law cases to attempt to have more control over the outcome of their situation by, if possible, attempting to resolve issues with the opposition.
Although this is often not practical or possible, it has been my experience that when parties are able to resolve issues between themselves, they view the end result more favorably than if a total stranger to their circumstances, their children and themselves as parties, has the final word in the situations and circumstances of their lives.

Barbara A. Bechberger, Esq.
My first really intensive experience with the "legal system" was at twenty-one years of age, when I obtained custody of my two younger brothers and my baby (she was not a baby she was 11 at the time but in my heart she will always be) sister. I never finished high school due to the horrible and inappropriate home life I had growing up.
In my early thirties I decided with definitive prodding from above; I was going to law school. I obtained a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and started at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. From there I enrolled in the University of Baltimore undergraduate program, followed by law school.
I received my professional doctorate in law from the University of Baltimore Law School in 1998. While attending law school, I worked for Integrity Church as an administrative aide, and interned for The Rutherford Institute, and the Center for Law and Religious Freedom.
After graduating, I clerked for Judge Arthur M. Ahalt at the Circuit Court for Prince George's County in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. In 2000, I opened the Law Office of Barbara Bechberger. For the past 13 years I have focused on Family Law and assisting Nonprofit Organizations. I have handled divorce, custody, child support, visitation, guardianship, contract, motor vehicle, and criminal matters.
While carrying on the duties of my practice, I have also taught at College of Southern Maryland, reviewed documents for three law firms in Washington, D.C. and became a board member for four nonprofit organizations.
